I have been very conscious of the waste involved in the process of stone carving, the taking away in order to find the form within. So recently I have started to make jewellery and hangings from the off-cuts. The hangings in alabaster are particularly attractive because of the stone’s translucency. Hanging them in a tree or in a window allows the light to show off the stone’s beautiful veins you would not ordinarily see.

Working in such a small scale has been challenging for me, and my fingers, but it has also allowed me to experiment with different forms that I might later try out on a larger scale. Sometimes I do replicas of my larger pieces in miniature so they are more accessible. Prices range from £15.00-£40.00.
